TFPA supports Labor’s workplace protection stance

The TFPA has welcomed today’s workplace invasion policy announcement by Labor Leader Rebecca White.

TFPA CEO Nick Steel said he supported Labor’s promise to create the offence of aggravated trespass and put timber harvesting safety zones in place with significant fines.

“The TFPA has long advocated for increased health and safety for our industry’s workforce through appropriate legislative controls and today’s announcement by Labor is welcomed,” Mr Steel said.

“We are strong supporters of free speech, but it is our view that workplace invasions punish hardworking Tasmanians who are simply trying to make a living and they must be stopped.

“We support parties who have the best interests of jobs and workers across Tasmania, and we look forward to hearing more from the Liberal Party about how they will approach this issue.”
