Supporting TasRail Investment

The Tasmanian Forest Products Association (TFPA) congratulates Ministers Ferguson and Barnett on today’s announcement that is providing $5 million to TasRail to maximise the efficiency and
integration of the road, rail and port infrastructure.

“As an industry it is pleasing when our priorities line up with government. This positive injection of infrastructure funding will go towards the improvement of TasRail efficiencies in the south-north rail transport route.” said TFPA CEO, Nick Steel.

Mr Steel said this investment will increase TasRail’s capacity to store logs safely, increase log transport capacity, improve log wagon loading productivity, improve safety in transit and increase
unloading capacity and efficiency.

“This funding provides the forest industry with long term alternative approaches to transport products through the supply chain.”

“It is terrific that the Tasmanian Government continues to support and invest in forestry, which is a reminder to all that our industry delivers rural and regional jobs that support many families across
the State.” Mr Steel said.
