Boost to on island timber processing from grants program

The Tasmanian Forest Products Association (TFPA) congratulates the successful applicants in the state government’s On-Island Processing Grants Program.

TFPA CEO Nick Steel said “This important program recognises and supports Tasmanian businesses to continue to transform and develop into world leading producers of the world’s most sustainable and carbon friendly building product, wood!”

The successful applicants include:

Timberlink Australia Pty Ltd to create a finger-jointing and priming line to convert low-grade and short length plantation pine into high value boards, fascia and posts.

McKay Investments Pty Ltd to upgrade truss plant facilities for the manufacture of wall and roof trusses and install an upgraded finger jointing and laminating plant.

Britton Brothers Pty Ltd to support a specialised timber recovery line that will join short lengths of timber into useable long sections.

“This is a very exciting time for forestry as globally the climate change and carbon benefits of timber are being recognised. In Tasmania we are using cutting edge research and innovation to develop new products and respond to market demand, we are pleased to see the state government share and support this vision.” said Mr Steel.
